On February 2, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology convened a work conference in Beijing on Establishment of National New Industrialization Demonstration Bases and held the title awarding ceremony for the first group of demonstration bases. Tianjin Development Zone (automobile industry) was one of them, becoming the only industrial park of Tianjin so honored.

To accelerate the transformation of the mode of economic development and promote the integration of industrialization and informatization, since last July, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have been carrying out works on the establishment of the National New Industrialization Demonstration Bases. After rounds of selections and public announcements, 62 units of China stood out. The first group of 62 demonstration bases represents the general requirements for taking the new road of industrialization and advanced development level of domestic industrial parks. With distinctive industrial and regional characteristics, they are playing important demonstrative and driving roles.
