The reporter learned from the Binhai New Area government, this year, Binhai New Area will speed up improving its port and airport functions and open up railway and road arteries in the area while centering on the construction of Northern International Shipping Center and International Logistics Center. Meanwhile, the area will vigorously develop public transport, strengthen the effective connection between inside-outside transport and between various transport means, improve the road net framework, and build an efficient, easy and precisely-connected integrated transport system which can reach the hinterland. It is expected that this year, Binhai New Area will complete the construction of main arteries of 156 km, open 113 km for traffic, and make the "14 north-south and 8 east-west" road framework take its initial shape.

According to our information, this year, Binhai New Area will accelerate the development of a greater transport system including transport within the area, transport between the area and the city area and transport with regions outside the area, develop an urban road network system characterized by rational structure, complete functions and high efficiency and convenience, and make the "14 north-south and 8 east-west" trunk road network take its initial shape. The "14 north-south and 8 east-west" trunk road network include the "8 east-west and 4 south-north" expressway network and "6 east-west and 4 north-south" highway network. The "8 east-west and 4 south-north" expressway network refers to: No. 112 national Highway, Tianjin-Ninghe Expressway, Beijing-Tianjin Expressway, Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu Expressway, Beijing-Dagang Expressway, Tianjin-Shantou Expressway, Tianjin-Shijiazhuang Expressway, Nangang Expressway, Beach Avenue, Ji County-Tanggu Expressway, Tanggu-Tianjin Expressway, and Ji County-Shantou Expressway. The "6 east-west and 4 north-south" highway network include: Tianjin-Hangu Expressway, Gangcheng Avenue, Tianjin-Tanggu Highway (Line 2), Tianjin Avenue, Tianjin-Dagang Highway, Tianjin-Binhai Express Rail, Central Avenue, Tanggu-Hangu Highway, West Central Ring Highway and Hangu-Dagang Highway.

At the same time, the New Area will accelerate the constructions of Jishugang road and important mainstay railways and roads leading to the hinterland, open up trunk railways and roads of the area, further improve the capacity of Jishugang, and reinforce the connection between the area and its hinterland areas. In addition, it will keep improving its public transport network, integrate and develop vigorously public transport, advance the construction of comprehensive hub project and rail transport, and improve effectively the proportion of traveling by bus and functions of comprehensive transport hub. In 2010, it will start the construction of the 300,000-ton navigation channel of Tianjin Port, expansion of Binhai International Airport (Phase II), Outer Ring Expressway and other projects, expedite the construction of Binhai Avenue, Binhai Station of Tianjin-Qinghuangdao High-speed Railway, Yujiabao Station of Beijing-Tianjin High-speed Railway and its extension lines, and ensure completion of International Cruise Ship Home Port, widening of main navigation channel (Phase II) of Tianjin Port, dock of Central Fishing Port, Tianjin Avenue, and Tanggu-Hangu expressway on schedule. Furthermore, it will launch railway traffic for passengers and realize the connection between Tianjin-Binhai Light Rail and Tianjin Station.
