"The East Xintang Lake Park will be built in the first half of this year" was the good news heard from Tanggu Rural Urbanization Office at the beginning of the New Year. The reporter learned that in order to provide entertainment and leisure places, the New City of Western Tanggu plans to build eco-parks in accordance with the layout of two lakes known as east and west lake. At present, Xintanghu East Lake Park that was launched first progresses well and is expected to be completed this summer.

East Lake Park lies in the New City of Western Tanggu, east to Haixing Road, west to Heizhu River, south to Erdao River and south to Taohu road. The water area of the park is about 172,000 sq.m and 15 ecological islands of different sizes are scattered around the lake. Virescence area in the park is about 140,000 sq.m. The construction of this project commenced in 2009, and at present, the east lake project that covers a total of about 460,000 sq.m is under even busier construction.

According to the introduction, besides large areas of green plants, by-water viewing platform, fitness area, on-water pavilions of different appearances around Xintang Lake are also good places for citizens to go for rest and cool air. The central scenic spot of the park is a citizen square of 34,000 sq.m and there is a covered bridge of avant-garde design and unique outlook at the square for sight viewing. The bridge connects with the little pavilion at the center of the lake so that people can walk on the lake and enjoy the breeze caressing their face. In the east area of Xintang Lake, various functional sites for amusement of children, sports in street, fitness and stadium are also planned. When completed, they will become the main places for citizens to do exercises.
